The EVGA Classified SR-2

Hey, wazzup dudes and dudettes. I want to share to you guys what I found while I was trolling. I found, in my opinion, the MOTHER of ALL Motherboards the EVGA Classified Super Record 2 (SR-2) Board.

The EVGA Classified SR-2 was released last year but I don’t think it has made the Philippine Market yet. The board was desinged for the extreme users and, I would like to add to the mix, hardcore gamers.

The board can support two Intel Xeon processors, yes two Xeon processors. Now, as per a good friend of mine, the Xeon is the best processor in the market today, even faster than Intel’s Core i7. The board also has 12 Memory Slots and can support up to a total of 48GB DDR3, which would translate to extreme multi-tasking.

The board can also support up to 4 SLi, unfortunately for AMD users like myself I don’t think that this support crossfireX. That being said, can still kick-ass, 4 SLis is acceptable plus combining it with 48GB and 2 Xeon processors I couldn’t think of anything faster.

Apart from the board having 2 Xeon, 4 SLi, and 12 Memory Slots. It also supports USB 3.0 and SATA III the latest in USB and SATA technology. Having these extra features, accompanied by the sleek design, means that the board is capable of being useful in the foreseeable future.

The summary of the specification are as follows:

  • Chipset: Intel 5520
  • CPU support: 2 x LGA1366 Xeon 5500- and 5600-series
  • Memory support: 12 slots: max 48GB DDR3 (1,333MHz)
  • Expansion slots: Seven 16x PCI-E 2.0
  • Sound: Intel HD Audio via Realtek ALC889 with 8-channel support
  • Networking: 2 x Marvell 88E8057 Gigabit Ethernet
  • Ports: 6 x SATA 3Gbps, 2 x SATA 6Gbps, 2 x eSATA 3Gbps, 10 x USB 2, 2 x USB 3, 2 x LAN, 4 x surround audio out, line in, mic
  • Dimensions (mm): 381 x 346

Before ending this post, I would just like to say that if anyone from the Philippines knows where to get one of these please do share. I would very much like to have one cause this board is, in the words of Barney Stinson, “Legen…wait for it…dary. LEGENDARY”!  Now for something to drool on, this is the unboxing of the EVGA Classified SR-2.

Hey Sabau, thanks for the comment. I would have to agree that Asus Rampage III Black Ed is better since it supports CFX and can also have a max of 48GB but it doesn’t have the dual processor of EVGA Classified SR-2 so I think performance wise EVGA still has the edge. Then again, I would have to try both to really give a good opinion. 🙂

Wooohooo Fader what a surprise! Nice post btw, but I’m cool with my Core i3 rig. I usually go to PCHub Gilmore or browse in TPC to look for PC stuff. TPC office is on the same street on where I live. 🙂

Not exactly a gaming board, but here’s a sample of a server motherboard:

True, its more of a server board but still it could be used as a gaming board. 😀
