[Updated- 04/27/11]PlayStation Network is still down
Well Sony has announced that they have nothing to announce concerning the status of the PlayStation Network. Obviously its still down.
Update[04/27/11] – Sony really messed up big time. Sony believes that whoever hacked the Playstation Network a week ago has stolen user data. Personal information like name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PSN password and login. Worse part is, they believe people who provided credit card information have also been obtained.
They believe between April 17 to April 19 is when user information was compromised. They will be sending an email to each PSN user informing them about this incident and to be aware of possible scams and encourages people to review their credit account statements for possible identity theft or any financial loss.
“We have a clear path to have PlayStation Network and Qriocity systems back online, and expect to restore some services within a week. We will keep the service down to allow us to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure smooth operation of our network services when they return; we are working hard to resume the services as soon as we can be reasonably assured our security concerns have been addressed.”
Sony has a lot to do for the next few weeks. Even if PSN gets online soon, Sony will have to ensure people that something like this won’t happen again and that their personal information is secured. Check the PlaystationBlog to see the latest information given. They have provided a FAQ to provide more information about the intrusion.
“I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online,” said SCEA’s Patrick Seybold. “Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.
“As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.”

ok to be honest here i care about all things my info,bank info, addres info and also the psn but i whether have the psn back online,,, changin my account info go to the bank gettin a new credit card can all be takin care of… time wastin but understandable due to hackers. i think if this was going on ok yes shut down the servers and post a link or message and have the 77 million ps3 owners look in to this problem but a for shutin the servers down for 6,7…etc days is just crazy. 77 million people 77 millionpeople at $300 dollar a system is $23,100,000,000 plus 60 dollar games i have 3 or 4 games at home so that’s like $250 one person just me their people that have more so let’s just say one guy with 4 games. so 77 million people with 4 games per person is $18,480,000,000 so your net is like $41,580,000,000 also yearly and people still buyin……. how can you have so much money and not have a internet white hat hacker or anit-hacker work inside the company to find hackers. Besides that you shouldn’t have a gross net of $41,580,000,000 dollars and have your servers down for 6,7, days and countin. with all that money. no one should never be offline. first they say one or two days then through the easter hoilday then tuesday for japan and wednesday 27,2011 well it’s wednesday and fuk this and fuk the lies i going to gamespot fukin sony well you just lost one!

Getting really tired of these Japanese face saving exercises that allow a full week to pass before anyone got any word of the severity, the recent nuclear crisis government and business response springs to mind. If you had given people the required information upfront as opposed to trying to bury the problem until the reality of the situation finally sunk in, we would have be a little forgiving. As such you don’t owe only compensation but you owe a renewal of faith and an apology, how can your customers trust your judgement anymore when your judgement is not telling people that their info was hacked for a full week? At least an American company like Microsoft admitted it’s pants were down when they suffered their 2008 server problems, not impressed with your lack of service or sense of responsibility towards your customers information safety…bottom line you can no longer be trusted to have our best interests at heart or to respond quickly and appropriately to such issues as have arisen in the future.

It is not one problem that led us to this point, it was several, all starting with Sony. Sony should have learned from ITunes mistakes, you should almost never sue your customer. It makes you an enemy of the public, if people could be sued for owning a product and doing simply using it, the entire world could theoretically be imprisoned. Since Sony sued their customer, it created a chain reaction of people protecting people. He hardly did anything on such a level to have his entire life ruined “had anonymous not intervened”. He simply used what already was there, like a GameShark, he simply accessed codes that were already there.
Sony got exactly what they deserved for suing the public. Yes this is inconvenient, however, if corporations keep suing the hell out of the public and getting away with it this will lead us down a horrible path. There is no excuse for unpreparedness on Sony’s end, but if it puts corporations in their place, then I can wait.
There is no excuse for compromising up to 75million users credit cards and personal information such as home address. They should be held accountable for all the actions that led to this point as well as potential identity theft. I say if Sony tried to make an example out of an every day person like you or I. Let us return the favor and charge them with 75 million counts of not preventing unauthorized personal from taking our data. 75 million counts of jeopardizing our information to a third party who are non compliant to receive this data. and 75 million counts of about 100 other issues they were unprepared for. They stick lawsuits on people they cant possibly afford, we might as well make an example of them.

Regardless of how this epidemic may end, i still love my playstations and games from all eras’. Yes the XBOX 360 does have some neat features the PS and PSN doesn’t have but hell. The systems that i played on up till this very moment are in order. SEGA, supernintendo, N64, PS1, Gameboy, Gameboy color, PS2, Gamecube, XBOX, XBOX 360 and PSP and PS3. I’m a intense gamer. I love Playstations game titles even though some suck after it hit the PS3 era. I like these specific game titles. Final Fantasy, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Prince of Persia, Call of Duty, Soul Calibur, Resistance, LBP, Resident Evil and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater1 to Proving Ground aditionally Skate 2&3. Other non-playstation games. Legend of Zelda, supermario for super nintendo and 64, Donkey Kong 64, Sonic Games, the game with the Fox in a pilot suit, played runescape on the computer and WOW, but on my friends account for a summer.
